My buddy is a huge Rand fan. He read Atlas and named his first son Ragnar.

No kidding. He is a DJ at a radio station in Wisconsin.

Atlas Shrugged = Great Literature good on you for having a copy. One of my favorite books I will read over and over.

This made me laugh.

I liked Anthem and The Fountainhead, the second one in particular. But I'm sorry, I have to say, Atlas Shrugged was just completely silly.

"Mr. Galt, lead us. Lead us! PLEASEEEEEE!"

"Do your worst. I'm happy to die in the name of Capitalism!"

And that speech he gave. What was it, 200 pages? I remember flipping through the book going "damn, when's this thing going to end?"

Well hell, there's a lot of cool characters throughout literature, but I don't know that I'd name my kid after them. Just imagine that poor kid in grade school, not to mention the professional world. It would be one thing if it was a family name or they lived in Scandinavia, but not here. Furthermore, it was/is believed that parents gave their children the names of old heroes and the children were imbued with their qualities. Way to go, your kid is named after a robber...

I just finished Atlas this past June, took about 3 & 1/2 weeks. I wonder what could have been the inspiration for my member name? This if for any Ayn Rand fans, google John Galt gifts and check out the website, they have some interesting stuff.

Good thing it was that book rather than the Playboys under the bed. LOL just kidding. I have a 4 yr old grandson who is fascinated with books. At the end of the day he likes to sit on my lap and have stories read to him. He understands letters and I think how words are made of them. He will sit forever listening to me read. I am so glad he likes poker because thats what I'm reading at the moment. "The banker, professor and the suicide king" An account of a banker named Andrew Beal who in the early 2000's took on the best professional poker players in the world for millions of dollars. Very interesting story.
