Are you referring to UAC?
I've noticed a trend. Many experienced users disable UAC because they consider themselves too advanced to need it. They consider it something that inferior users need. Even though they don't personally endure the endless nagging from UAC, they are happy to criticise people who do leave it active and find it intrusive.

So may I ask, is your main machine running Vista with UAC enabled?
