Thanked: 335Jaws, but much and greatly prefer the unasked option: neither.

To quote W.C. Fields requested epitaph ,"I'd rather be living in Philadelphia."
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I dont' care which eats me...just as long as the end comes pretty quickly. What a nasty way to go.
I'm guessing shark would end it quicker. Then again, depends on the type of shark.

Thanked: 586I caused an interesting incident when I put four rounds from an M-14 into a tiger shark's head during a swim call on one of my ships off Andros Island in the Bahamas. The other sharks that caused me to end the swim call decided that the one I shot was suddenly food and began to tear it apart. I was up on the fairwater planes (the fins that stick out of what you may call the conning tower on a submarine) watching this remarkable violence. It changed me.
I'd rather face the bear. I could at least delude myself I had a chance.

Bears are like sharks in that they are both ambush predators. Bears tend to lean a little more to the oppourtunistic side of life as far as food goes.
I'd like to have a fighting chance which is why I chose a bear, in my heart though I know that once a bear gets a hold of you your toast. Sharks are a little meaner in that they can do a drive by and bite off a chunk to see if you taste good, thus polluting the water with your blood and any other body fluid that you spill. This makes the school a little nutty and now instead of one shark tearing after you you may have 5. Bears bite off and chew with out letting go. Also with a bear I do not have to worry about other bears fighting over me.

Thanked: 735As a semi-retired surfer (I haven't been out for about 4 years now...) the thought of bobbing in the water, and having a shark start eating you from the bottom up doesn't sound too appealing....
But I would also imagine that a bear tends to smack you around a bit/maul you prior to finishing off the deal, which doesn't sound so great either....

I'd go for bear too. The shark feeding frenzy freaks me out. Plus their teeth are so damned sharp they'd be taking chunks out of me like a newly-honed Livi through whiskers and I'd be conscious the whole time. A bear will probably knock me out with the first bat of its paw.
Of course, benig a city boy, I'm aware that I'm talking total crap.
