I really think the best way to travel with a guitar is to send it U.P.S. before you leave, they will take better care of your package than a baggage thrower.

I think the reaction of the airline and the run around they've been getting is the issue, not necessarily the damage to the guitar. Had UA showed some real and sincere customer service, no one would have ever heard of this.
There are actually two songs written so far talking about the damage and UA's reaction; a third is coming which will detail the final outcome.

follow up to United Breaks Guitars
Did a little research and here's a video of a cnn news piece it did on the song. They say that United is now in talks with David Carroll., wonder why? lol

But was that guitar in one of those tank cases? or was it just a soft carry case?

United is such a terrible airline anyway. The only positive thing about flying with them is that I made it to all of my destinations. In this day and age though, getting there should be assumed. If Dutch KLM flew everywhere, that's who I'd take.

noted that David Carrol has released a video statement, basically saying that things are being worked out and that UA is offering him some cash, which he hopes they will donate to a charity of their choice.
