More than other musical groups, Dylan tends to fall into four camps instead of the normal three. I think that the voice issue comes into play too heavily. Normally, with groups like The Beatles, you have three camps. The ones who love them, the ones who hate them, and the ones who tend to say they like them because they are the Beatles and it is sort of expected to like them. With Dylan the issue of his voice has more of an impact than I think it should. So there is an entire camp of people who say that they like the music and the message but can't really dig the medium... It's sort of like people who don't like Rush. But different.

I'm a really big fan of his early-ish work. He really is a gifted wordsmith, and I even kind of like his voice for what it is.
I've spent many nights on trains listening to Dylan. Which, I think, is the only way to do it.
