Yes, I loan out my knives to co-workers, although that is after some query into their expeced application. My knives are sharp (as the should be), and it gives them an example of what knives they should be using anyway. It allows educating them, and letting my tools be more accepted by those with less experience.

I don't let people borrow my knives, and I certainly don't let them know that I can sharpen them either... I don't like creating a lot of work for myself

When I deployed I brought my sharpmaker with me and had a blast letting everyone know how dull there knives were and showing them how sharp they could actually be. After awhile people in other units were having me sharpen their knives.
If I was smart I would have turned it into a business.

That's a little bit different set of circumstances. I'd be as helpful as you in that situation (I hope)... Thanks for your service

I have done so, but prefer not to. What really fascinates me are the people who carry dull knives. Most of the people I work with have knives, but mine is the only one in the department sharp enough to cut string without effort. I wonder why they have them in the first place.

    Richmond,
Thanks, it was actually a good way to kill down time, especially when the weather got nicer. Could sit outside, smoke a cigar, and turned abused knives into actual cutting tools instead of the blunt instruments most people carried. The Gerber I carry in my turnout gear at my fire dept. is a knife I received from a guy who broke the tip off it and gave it to me. I put it in my foot locker and reground and sharpened it to razor sharp when I got the chance. So sharpening other peoples tools wasn't without benefit. On the other hand I gave away a few nice one's too.

I'm used to working with people who carry knives. In places where my co-workers don't have their own, I usually cut whatever needs cutting for them. In my current job, I keep a razor knife on me that I can lend out. I don't care if it's stolen or broken, and if the blade is dull, it's got 3 more inside

You'll either never get it back or get it back screwed up. Jimmy is about the only person I would consider loaning it to. Its not just the ignorance and incompetence that people have these days, its the attitude of giving it back as good or better than when it was received, old school mentality, it makes the world work. Thank you Jimmy for being you.

Nope, don't think I would in general, if I knew what they wanted it for and I knew them - probably.
