I bet your children don't hear or learn anything without your permission.
Nobody complains about all the Armed Forces advertisements encouraging our children to enlist (and I have the utmost respect and admiration for our soldiers and vets), but as soon as our President starts telling kids that they can achieve great things with their education, it's intolerable.
What was it? 5 minutes long? People need to get over it.

That is why as a life long registered dem I switched to 'No party affiliation'. When Scoop Jackson died the rest were dems in name only .....excepting Senator Robert Byrd and maybe Senator James Webb.
BTW, not to change the subject but as far as health care goes if they will give all of us the same policy they have that would be fine ..... or take whatever it is they do pass for themselves instead.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 43I was in middle school when Reagan made the speech. We didn't get to watch it as our schools lacked funding for such an endeavor. Lack of TV's and the cable hookups and so forth with bad reception in the mountains using an antenna. I called an old teacher I know and asked why we didn't see it back then and she said that was why. God Bless Mrs. Lewis apparently she tried to get a taped copy but to no avail. But as I recall there wasn't a major deal made of it. I will say perhaps we could have seen it, had Reagan not cut funding for education, perhaps not.
When Bush made his, I recall some flap about it, but once the nature of the speech was made public, the flap died down out of common sense.
I can't understand why a speech of encouragement from a sitting President would be considered an indoctrination or worse yet, a brain washing to our youth.
Seriously do they think he's going to bring a hypno-toad or something. Besides it'll be a long while before those children will be voting anyway.
Plenty of time to be re-brainwashed.
I've yet to hear the speech be criticized for the actual content. It's always that ever special talent of the Conservatives to look into that crystal ball and tell us what "is really" going on and what "is really" being said.
