Since it's not a competition anyone would know about, is it really losing? Had he not gotten it, the world at large would be unaware he was even in the running. I don't think anyone has been against him personally in this, whether it's because of his character or his office. Had he actually done something either at the time of nomination or to date, it might be a different story. Like Richard says, it's nothing against President Obama- all these remarks are for the selection committee.

The UK has the Olympics in 2012. Don't think many Brits want it, we can't afford it. Just a big ego trip and jolly for politicos.

I understand you will disparage any accomplishments, and will cheer any ignominies, the current president may experience until the 2012 election.

    I understand perfectly...

Oh my! That is the first time that we have heard about disparaging any accomplishments of a president from the other side of the political isle, isn't it? We suddenly we all gots religion after getting back from yonder mountain!

And while I don't know Glen (or many here) nearly well enough to speak of their personal beliefs specifically, I think the above holds true for many in America.

In fact, the right's claim of the left's "hero worship" has always been a real eye-roller to me, since I see a lot more active efforts to tear him down by some of those on the right than efforts to put him on any kind of pedestal by those on the left.

That is what you on the left don't seem to understand, I speak for myself here not any other righties...but the liberals taught me that I don't have to respect the office nor the man in it....

But yes that is correct he stands for absolutely everything I despise... I can't wait for 2012 or his even sooner Impeachment.. Yes I will cheer loudly from the rooftops every single time he screws up.... "I TOLD YOU SO"
I see him being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize as an absolute insult to every single person that has won it in the past, and an even bigger embarrassment to the USA...

I completely understand the first sentiment, but I don't get the second. Even assuming that others were more deserving, etc., and that it was therefore a poor choice, how would that reflect poorly on anyone other than the selection committee?

All this talk of not respecting the president made me think of the Dixie Chicks. Whatever happened to them? Are they still hiding (which to digress, is sad they have to do, considering no one should care what they think about politics)? Are they embarrassed to be from the same country as this President? Do they think he deserved the Nobel for not being from Texas? I must know, because I can't form an opinion without knowing what leftist performers think!
