For Clarity:
It is obviously a joke. The sign is photoshopped.
My guns are kept locked in the gun safe if I am not at home, even the "night stand" piece (not really where I keep my evening home defense piece since it is awkward and obvious when I am going for it from the bed if it's in the night stand).
It would take a very calculated effort to get them out of my house since the safe is bolted to a concrete foundation level floor and the wall. Heck, there isn't even a visible lock mechanism on the out side of it.
If you own guns, it is my opinion that you have a few obligations:
1. Teach your kids about the dangers and safe operation of them.
2. Keep them secure so they don't get into the wrong hands.
3. Know how to use them.
Anyone who would seriously put such a sign in there yard would be taking a risk. It would also be kind of a jerky thing to do, BUT it is funny as all get out to me.

Thanked: 151I agree with your obligations. I also hate the debate. While I would never put a sign like that in my yard, though I wish more people would. The fact is that the states with the lowest home break-in rates have the highest percentage of gun ownership.
Its funny that their are people that believe others should tolerate crime. At least with the skilled gun owners, we don't have to waste thousands of dollars housing thieves, because they take care of the problem.
The sign is hilarious though.
My 2 cents.
