Well that guy sure seems plenty pompus, and that makes me understand why cigar smokers tend to get a bad wrap. I think the idea of putting anything onto a cigar is rather odd; personally I always take the bands off before lighting because I find them annoying. And, for the money that band thingie must cost, I'd rather purchase something that I personally can enjoy as opposed to a sign for others to look at.

I can't see it at work. What is it?
As a cigar nut (semi reformed) I love watching the craziness in that hobby as much as any other.

Quite impressive. I'm sure it costs some obscene amount of money. Since it looks so stupid, you'll likely be asked what the hell it is. To which you can respond by showing them that it is in fact gilded, how limited the edition is and how impossibly expensive it was. This says to all those in your vicinity how wealthy and important you are.
It's pretty clear guys.

Smokelaw, it's a leather band like a watch band with a guilded Davidoff medallion in the middle. You're supposed to take the paper band off and put on this leather band while you smoke a cigar.

Fascinating. After about a minute and a half into the clip I got sick & tired of the Davidoff namedropping that I have developed an instant severe disliking for the brand.
I immediately connected this to the trashy people buying their $6 Versace & Gabanna t-shirts with oversized names on it and then think they're hot stuff. Same idea, you get the name dropping, except this is for the people with money, and in a niche area.
Then again, people will say the same of the razors with fancy material scales.

Class and charm come from within. That thing and the whole idea is just plain lame regardless of the cost.

Thanked: 124Yeah, I was gonna say it reminds me of the Sopranos, where they'd buy some expensive trashy thing and think they were the pinnacle of sophistication b/c of it.
I don't really think it relates to the obsessions here too well, I'm sure some of those cigar guys spend Duble duck kind of money on a box of cigars (or even a single cigar), and I'm fine with that. However, a goofy and impractical little signet on your cigar to show how classy and sophisticated you are is a different story...
