Well, it turns out the pickup window is actually open till 5 on Saturday. Mind you, that's not listed online or posted anywhere at the post office; I asked the woman who was at the window.
Also, I did check the phone number via whitepages online, and it just gave the 800 number there.

Thanked: 132I hear ya Holli...wait until they loose your packages...that is another whole batch of fun. Post office? Nay, they should be called 'The Postal Abyss.'
And yes, they do not give a crap, about any of our packages or valuables.
I could go on and on, but we all have experienced this, i'm sure. Ugh!
Thanks,
Mac

I have had the notice instead of the package thing too. I was home watching the mailman make deliveries on my street. He has a walking route and my house is the last one on his route. He parks in front of my house. I see him getting in the truck and figure the box with my new camera was taking an extra day. I walk out to the mailbox and there is the orange slip!!!
Lat year I go on a weeks vacation and have my mail held. I get home to an overflowing mailbox. A week later I am still waiting on a box. I walk out and ask the mailman if I have any boxes coming. He says yes, there are some for me at the Post office because they are holding my mail per my notice (from 2 weeks ago). He then hands me my days regular mail ??!!?? Huh? They are delivering AND holding at the same time.

Would it be inappropriate for me to tell you guys how freaking awesome the Japanese Postal system is?
Yeah?
Sorry about that.

Whoops, this was about a different gripe I had with tracking, actually from Japan. It seems it takes several days for tracking to be updated. The tracking didn't show it was in customs until about three days after it arrived, at which point there was a backdated message saying it arrived. Then I received the package, but tracking still said it was being held at customs... Go figure.

Thanked: 235So it seems that there is a certain personality type that works in post offices world wide. Here in Bangkok I make a not of never marking a package with FRAGILE because to Thai postal workers this means throw it harder, drop it from a greater height, put a heavier weight on top of it. They also regularly open and steal packages.

im glad i rarely have problems with the post office (sorry guys) there have been times i waited over a month for deliveries of course this was through the APO not the usps. and most of the postal workers i have met have always been nice, they do of course only knock once then leave the slip not even waiting for more than a few seconds but my dog always makes sure i hear even the softest knock on the door
