Time Travel
Now for something compleatly different. If it were possible to travel back in time only once, what event in history would you like to be present at and witness for yourself?
ps. you cannot be harmed in anyway while at said event!
Let your imagination run wild but try not to let this thread get to heated.
After thought- if you have time travelled please put up pictures.
Note:being abducted by alliens and pictures involving probes is not and will not be considered as time travel

Thanked: 77Only one event? Hard to decide - will have a think and get back to you!
Interesting topic as we probably imagine a relatively sanitised version of the past without the disease and bad teeth - I'd be interested in seeing what things really looked (and smelt?) like.

Is there a time limit on the length of said event? For example, if someone said the birth of Christ, great, thats a few minutes. Then someone says the US Civil War. Thats several years.
Just curious.

Barcelona
The Nou Camp
Trailing 1-0 for most of the game, Manchester Utd knock two in against Bayern Munich in stoppage time to win the European Cup and an unprecedented, historical and yet-to-be-repeated Treble.
One of my biggest regrets was not to have been there in person. But hey, it's just a soccer match, right?

Wow thats tough. I would like to watch the building of the great pyrimid, or any great civilization (Rome, Greece, Mayan Etc.) in thier heyday, or to see dinosaurs walk the earth. Tough to narrow down to only 1 event.

Upon more thought...
This morning, about 7am.
Sounds unimportant, but I forgot my breakfast and lunch at home and won't be back home until 5 tonight. Go me...

Retrograde time travel (i.e. travel into the past) is impossible (you can prove this by a very simple logic exercise if you want). Thus, what we are talking about here is fantasy, and since it is fantasy travel, we can go to any place we or anyone else can imagine. I choose to travel back to the initial contact between humans and martians in H.G. Well's War of the Worlds.

I would go back in time to a few minutes before I got into the time machine in the first place to talk myself out of going.
