Shutting down tv is always a good choice for me. Life is elsewhere.
Amen, my friend! We got rid of the tube, thankfully some time ago. No network TV, no cable. It's beautiful.

She's not different than anyone else who knows how to use the media to sway people. It's a pretty simple formula for the people who possess the charisma. Televangelists like Benny Hen and Pat Robertson have been doing much the same stuff for years. She has the knack and people follow people with that knack.

To the rest of us its whack. To others its crack.

You either see right through them or can't see past them.

you know, i have noticed if i do not watch any network news or listen to the radio, my life seems to calm down a lot. i listen mostly to xm radio stations with no advertisements, and watch old vhs and dvd movies from the 1930's thru the 1960's. seems like life was a whole lot better back then..but you know what they say "you can never go back", what a shame...

I agree on life being so much more peaceful; turning it off is like being able to hop off the crazy train.

Old movies are just the best. Cary Grant, Hepburn, Irene Dunne, Myrna Loy and William Powell, the list goes on and on and on. Awesome.

Ditto on the old movies. I have a slue of them and love them. Same with some of the old tv shows.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why she's so popular. I threw my TV out the window and couldn't be more satisfied with that decision.

She's just a phoney self-centered sleaze. She couldn't be more self absorbed if she were made of equal parts paper towel and water. It's just another foolish personality cult. Did you see when she was over in Paris to do some show and she went to get a new Rolex or some real expensive watch and she got there and the jeweler had just closed and she banged and banged on the glass door and then threw a screaming fit when they wouldn't open back up to let her get what she wanted and didn't even know who she was, man, she threw such a fit that the store owner called the police on her, man that was just fantastic. She's an uber-egomaniac.

I remember starting this thread one night after I had been peeved at Oprah over something. I only want to apologize to all on this site for starting a thread that was meant to go nowhere, but only to take shots at a person I don't like. I still think the woman is a snake and I guess at the time I started the thread I wanted to hear who else felt the same way I did. I suppose thats a natural desire to have feelings reaffirmed, but the nature of the thread is still a negative one. My apologies again for my drivel. All the Best- Johnny
