I'm Glad I'm on the Downhill Side of This Life
Just read this in the NY Times here. It's almost enough to make me turn Republican. When I was in my early teens I not infrequently had older.... like my age now (60s) men tell me,"I wish I was your age and knew what I know now."
Well I am glad I am my age and by the time ten more years goes by I'm sure I'll be glad to check out of the world the way it's going. Either that or find a free country to live in.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

True. Youth is wasted on the young.
If there was one thing I could do over, it would be my college years, but with the knowledge / life experience I have now.Par-tay
Then again, I might not graduate and I might not meet my wife so perhaps the end result would nto be that great. All in all things turned out great.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

As an ex-smoker that is still very very sensitive to smokers' rights, and the amazing amount of crap they take...just WOW.
Now, as for turning republican...why would you do that? These PRIVATE COMPANIES are just enforcing THEIR RIGHTS on THEIR PROPERTY. Right? What more would the repulicans want? Don't like it? Don't rent there!
A democrat might say that as smoking becomes more and more a "minority" habit, (both in that smokers are a "minority" and ethnic minoritites and the poor are making up a greater percentage of smokers), these big bad private companies are having a disparate impact upon the housing rights of these people. Won't SOMEBODY think of the smokers? Vote Democrat.
(And now quietly returns to stirring the pot).

I am also a former smoker for smoker's rights, which infuriates my fiance as she advocates a universe-wide ban on all forms of smoking.
Jimmy- I'm only 20, so I'm all about moving. The Fiance and I are thinking Sweden. Or Norway. One of the two.
