Do these count as a counter-factor? There's hundreds of examples to be had. I remember when this story broke months ago and was squashed about two days later (and yes, the neo-conservative fat man mentioned just this type of thing from the news stories floating around at the time). The web sites that contained the stations in question vanished over night. It's another reason to be skeptical about the science and data collection without leaked e-mails. Does my opinion on the validity of data collection not count because I don't have any climate-based or research-based degrees? Hardly......I panic when a bunch of hypocrites gather and conspire to spend my hard-earned money on a non-issue like carbon dioxide emissions (that includes the idiots in both houses of Congress, the Supreme Court, the EPA, the dolts in Copenhagen and the most recent Nobel Peace Laureate).

Just shutup and keep working Cabledawg, those guys have a very luxurious standard of living that us shlubs have to pay for, don't you know? For goodness sake get a second or third job if you have to, heck I'd bet that you are one of those crazy crackpots who would rather spend time with his friends and family instead of working, see there's one of the big problems - you're just selfish. You don't sound very grateful for all of those guys getting together in Copenhagen and Washington and where ever they can sacrificing their time just to insure and look out for your good will. What's a few billion or trillion more, for all of the benefits that they will provide us.

I firmly believe in the adage "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity" but in the AGW case stupidity is no longer an adequate explanation. I believe the people you describe know pretty well what they are up to and what they expect to get out of it. Here are quotes from three of them:

Do note that the LA times is in no way associated with any "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy", to say the least.

AGW is the juiciest "great crisis" the anti-free-market, anti-American left has going for them. They are not about to let it go to waste. The want to accomplish "big things" -- and those are Socialist things.
