Don't tell me we're not heading toward socialism at an alarming rate... my family is from Russia. While it's not currently an exact model as I listen to the words it's so similar it's scary. Scary as hell too because Americans are falling for the lies.

I agree, a communist he is not. There has never been a true "communist" society. Many have used the word in an attempt to win over the people but they have all fallen back to a socialist oligarchy. But I have to disagree when it comes to calling him a socialist. Do I believe he is one, not really, I believe he's an oligarchist using socialist/communist rhetoric just like the leaders of past Russia and China. Originally Posted by AlanII

I think we agree, DistortedPenguin, that Obama is not a socialist. Personally, I don't even recognise the rhetoric as socialist or communist. He just represents the left wing of American business.

Not all Americans are falling for it. Much of America is waking up. This is why this administration is pushing to move their agenda into place as fast as possible. Once implemented it will be difficult if not impossible to reverse course. Originally Posted by DistortedPenguin

obama sought out marxist professors in college, this much he has admitted in speeches he has made.
it comes down to this "from each according to their means, to each according to their needs". not an exact quote maybe, but close enough and that is pure socialism and marxism.
but, even in the communist manifesto, there is still some type of ruling class and that is the downfall of socialism/communism since all are NOT equal as karl marx really wanted. there is the flaw in the whole theory

Nobody knows all their rights. That's just due to the fact that one needs to know a truckload of paperwork. Next comes the implementation, which gets adjust/finetuned on a daily basis by our courts. Even the legal scholars have proper knowledge of limited parts only.
Of course, there's a difference between knowing "all" and the "daily usable subset". Whatever that may be, 'cause it may change on a daily basis, and differ from person to person.
And the future approaches us at the exact same rate as it always has. One's perspective on the current situation and therefore future can change, making the rate appear changing.
