and you seem to forget that we got into WWII not only because of japan and it imperial dynasty, but also to stop communism, socialism, fascism, and all the tyrants of the world. the vets that are alive today from WWII are appalled at what is taking place in this country with the socialist tendencies as of late. i know, i have one living uncle from that era and have attended many funerals of WWII vets who were literally sick at the thought of what has been going on for the last 40 years here in AMERICA, with us moving slowly but surely towards socialism step by step by step.
our very rights being taken away from us daily, with Christian religion being swept aside for political correctness. the list goes on and on. there is not enough room here to list all the rights that are being stomped on.

Those WWII vets lived through the New Deal, when our economy had nearly collapsed and the government stepped in to help out. Some programs were declared unconstitutional and the critics said that it was socialist. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Yet here we are; still a free market republic. It'll be exactly the same eight years from now, I assure you.

Hey guys, take it easy. This was a thread to remember! This was not a thread to decry our particular political leaning, nor is it a good place to have an argument about where this country is going. Try to put differences aside while remembering the people who shed their blood in defense of this country.

"the vets that are alive today from WWII are appalled at what is taking place in this country with the socialist tendencies as of late."

What a bunch of hooey! I know WWII vets and they're not "appalled" at all. By what survey do you base your blanket assertion? I presume you've interviewed the vast majority, if not all, living WWII vets to come to this conclusion? Please...

"our very rights being taken away from us daily, with Christian religion being swept aside for political correctness"

Gee, the last time I looked, the town was being decorated for Christmas; the TV was awash in both secular and religious programming about Christmas, and all my friends and neighbors were busy getting ready for the holidays; all the same churches were still operating; and everyone who wanted to pray, go to church, decorate for Christmas, worship together, and watch whatever religious broadcasting was available on TV, radio, the internet, were able to do so. Not sure how this comports with the Christian religion being "swept aside". Perhaps you're arguing for a return to the time when Christian prayers were recited in public schools. That hardly constitutes anyone's freedom to worship being taken away from them.

    Right!
    Enough of this verbal jousting!
It's the holidays! Let's be nice to one another.
We can return to our otherwise cantankerous selves on Jan 2nd...
