Thanked: 155What do you think about SR shaving
This may seem a bit light hearted, but the questions are actually carefully chosen to reveal a great many things.

i find myself going backwards as far as technology goes and using a SR was the first step to that. not to say i don't enjoy technology but i definitely don't things just cuz they are the newest thing. the fact that the SR is such an old tradition (relatively speaking i guess
) has always been a big thing to me. its like connecting to a different way of life in a small way.
just a side note here, i have read lots of times that people like SR shaving partly because it is "badass" and it is fun to tell people about it and show them the razors (i have no problem with this reasoning and would love to agree). in my experience so far most people either don't believe me (which is dumb) or they look at me like i am crazy and say they would never do it. the only ones that have been impressed so far are barbers that used to use SRs. weird i guess
sorry this was a lot longer then i thought it would be.

I wouldn't say it's ancient, but there are lots of artistic elements that come into it, and I sure do enjoy it. Looking at a beautiful razor or brush or strop or hone is like looking at art. Those who make soaps/creams/other scented products are almost alchameic (<- heck yea, I made up a word!) - that is an art. And I'll tell you this, nothing about razors is purely scientific, so there's gotta be a little art in every step.

Since the question was about shaving: I chose the ancient art that I enjoy.
My true passion is in restoring / making razors.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

For me, its an ancient art that I enjoy.
Its also a good feeling to enjoy what used to be a chore.

Let me think because i'm not sure.
Maybe i use SR for the same reason i prefer hand tools and use electric gizmos only when there no choice. I've learned to think that the men before me could make tremendous things with only hand tools. We all have a change to do the same also, if just willing to learn.
Using SR, as well as old tools like chisels etc etc are not easy to learn. It takes time and patience to learn to use them correctly, and there will always be more to learn.
The results, done with SR (as with hand tools) are much more rewarding.
Or maybe i'm just hooked with SR. Haven't used DE's at home for months now.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

I choose all of them.
I had to choose just one though so I did and clicked the button.
The best way I can say it is the following:
I used to shave with disposables and canned gel. They may have been a little faster to shave with, but now, if I don't have time to shave with a straight razor and quality lather, I don't have time to shave.
