You want real security? I had a friend who many years ago worked as a geologist for a S. African Diamond Mining outfit and when he left the country to return home he was first to report to the company office where he was strip searched and then x-rayed three times and all his luggage was totally inspected and then escorted to the airport under guard until he boarded the flight.

I've never heard of anyone taking any El Al International Flight who got on the plane in 30 minutes. Usually you can expect to spend some real quality time with their security people being interviewed and searched.

As far as the guy with the underwear issue I don't think TSA would have detected it. I don't think TSA, even with a patdown does a real full body patdown like law enforcement does. The traveling public wouldn't stand for it.

Remember its very easy to be a monday morning quarterback especially when you have no understanding of the game.
