Default Impossibowl, A Wood Turning Puzzler

I was going to put this in the Workshop forum but it seems like it is something worthy of some discussion.

The title of this piece is Tendril. It is cocobolo and mountain laurel.

It was turned on a lathe. As I have demonstrated before, I an not at all proprietary. If anyone is interested, I will explain how I did this. But first, I would be happy to see if you folks already have it figured out.

I could have sworn I saw this recently in the forum, and no I don't know how you did it but it's cool

I am far beyond the point in my night where I could devote any reasonable thought to trying to figure that out... but it is quite cool!

I will try again tomorrow when I have something to bring to the table.

On a side note, please keep posting cool lathe projects, I just got a lathe for christmas and I love your how-to's

I know exactly how it happened, but it depends on your personal belief:

    (2) god created it in this most unique and precious way (and he designed it rather intelligently too)
    (1) it evolved through natural selection as Darwin told it to do

Either way, way cool, praise be to the creator/creation process!

MY guess is that when the handle part was turned,it formed part of the top rim of the bowl. Then it was steam bent up into the area it is in now, then spoke shaved to have the rounded appearance.

Only one guess? I'll let it stew for another 24.

    Nice, Icedog.

Do you have any pic from the top of the bowl?

I think i'm going all wrong. Now this depends on the shape and size of the handle part before you inserted it into the 'bowl' and before using them in your lathe.
For example. It could be possible to add a flat piece of wood into another, square part and then make it a bowl in the lathe. It could also be possible that only parts of the flat part got sinked into bowl part, and other parts (handle) were left out...

Oh, leave it. Please consider only red text.
I consider that the handle was inserted in to the workpiece before you turned it into bowl. The handle could have been steamed or turned wet into its current shape after the bowl was ready

Shit. My English really sucks sometimes and my logic is even worse
