Onimaru is the main character in a Japanese movie of the same name. It's based on Bronte's Wuthering Heights.
55 is my birth year and.....this year.... my age.... yayyyy!!! Must be fortuitous. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

At work, I'm kown as the Lead Duck, or at least I used to be. I think I've lived it down by now. I often wish I had listed myself as Lead Duck rather than leadduck, but I have no idea if it's even possible to change it.

Thanked: 431It is somewhat sort of a name for persons, techies, or programmers in our industry. One group that use to be affiliated with us had a nice splash screen/flash presentation where they took the members of their group and had characatures made of them, it was very well done, it is what I always think about when I hear the term, wish that I could find a copy of it to post, you would like it.
It however was not my first choice when trying to register on the forum. I don't remember the exact guidelines for a member name but you supposedly could use spaces and different symbols, but I kept getting messages that the names that I was trying where not accepted but I notice that they were not used either, so in somewhat of frustration I came up with it and it took so here I iz.
I think that I first tried some cartoon characters, plus Thomas.A.Anderson and others.

Mind if we call you 'Bruce' to keep it clear ?

Back in the early to mid-90s, when email, newsgroups, MUDs, and the bay were were just starting to make waves, I was in need of a user name and wanted something unique enough so as to have good chance of it being available as a user ID pretty much anywhere I might need one (because, unlike Bruce, John was already taken and I wanted to keep a little privacy by not splashing my surname all over the place)...
A few days earlier I had finished reading Dante's Inferno. One of the characters made a much bigger impression on me than all the rest. His name was still in my head and happened to be very unique so 'Malacoda' it was. Have been using it so long now it has just become habit.John

I'm a Junior, so I was always called by my middle-name -- Allen. My friends, on the other hand, always called me Allen. Either one is fine by me.
