hmmm... if that snake is living happy under there I cant help but think of what he is eating to stay alive? It seems like you may have some kind of pesky rodents in the area... at any rate my suggestion is the ol' .410 with a hot round of birdshot, that oughtta fix em. Good luck.

Thanks, Jim, for putting things into perspective
I love Austrailia, I really do. But it does seem that just about everything there can kill you or eat you. If it's not the snakes, it's the spiders. Even the ocean isn't safe. If the sharks or crocs don't eat you, the blue ringed octopus or the ribbon jellyfish will get you.

I have a friend who is a snake lover and works with reptiles. He has brought pit vipers to the tattoo shop among other poisonous snakes for our perusal. If you were to look in the yellow pages for a shop that deals in reptiles you could probably find a pro who would come get the rattler and solve the problem without harm to the snake.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I had to fix that for a friend of mine who is very much into herpetology and gets amazingly upset when people say poisonous instead of venomous.

I'd also say don't kill it, just find someone who would remove it for you.

That's the part that I'd be most interested in "fixing"

Venomous refers to animals that inject venom into their prey when hunting or as a self-defense mechanism. Poisonous describes plants or animals that are harmful when consumed or touched.

Kill them and make a gourmet meal, a pair of boots, and a belt out of them.
We used to step on their heads and then cut their heads off. By the way, the fangs are just as capable of poisoning you whether the snake is dead or alive.

edit: should I have said venomizing in place of poisoning?

!2 gauge with birdshot, blind him with a high beam flashlight, blow his head off, skin and remove entrails, cut into bite size chunks and soak overnite in salted water, heat the skillet on med high and fry the pieces in garlic butter until browned.

Reminds me of the time we took my grandfather out for seafood, he hated the lobster as it reminded him of snake.

Luckily we have no rattlesnakes here, but we have one snake, kyy (dunno the English translation for it) that might kill. Specially it is dangerous to kids and pets. Usually they are very scary and escapes noise but will also attack when surprised.
I have no heart to kill them (this place is their home too) but whenever i've seen one near my house, i've catched it, put it in a box, and drive the box far away from my house to the forest.

Must be of no help. I think i wouldn't try to catch a rattlesnake without spacesuit or something like that.
