Any runners?
Any runners here? I find that with my new profession, I'm running many miles at a time and I'm hating it. Mainly I get bored. All I can think of is how close I am to being done, which part of my body hurts, and how stupid running is. I don't get to use an mp3 player unfortunately. For those of you crazies that do marathons, I don't know how you do it. That's a ridiculous distance, absolutely ridiculous.

I've done a half marathon last June and I'm doing it again this June. I don't really enjoy it, but the training really helps with overall conditioning.
Good shoes and an ipod are key to making it bearable. That and good socks. The difference between $3.00 and $10.00 running socks is the difference between blisters and no blisters.

I'm a returning runner. Hope to do a half later this year. I enjoy it quite a bit.
What is this job you speak of?

I'm currently in Army Officer Candidate School (8 weeks from graduation!) and we run like it's our business. I'm rocking 7 minute miles now...crazy.

In Boot Camp I had one song... "Hotel California" constantly repeating itself in my head.
I don't know how or why, but it made every run seem easy.

You'll never enjoy it till it becomes your freedom. Until then treat it like a job. Have you rucked yet? It takes on a whole new level of fun with a 70 lbs pack on your back.
You'll shed all that civilian weeny weakness soon. Seven min miles are crazy.

I hear ya, Quick. I couldn't stand running on pavement but once I tried XC everything changed for me.
One thing I liked about XC is it kept my focus, constantly dodging tree limbs, going over rocks... etc.
But in the end, I still don't like to run so I started cycling... now there is something I enjoy just like some of you do with running.

I'm not a sir quite yet...give it a few weeks though Oh yeah, we've rucked. I don't mind them really. Once you get into the mindset, they fly by. What's funny about both running and rucking is that the pain tends to go away by the 2nd mile. I might be limping before and after, but I can run and ruck just fine. The boredom is overall what kills me. Oh well.
