Healthcare Passes
Health care is on the verge of passing. Chalk one up for my side.
Let the losers begin their bellyaching....

Thanked: 227Howdy folks
i'm not sure how far Obamas healthcare bill goes, I'll admit that, however I am from the UK, where we are known to have socialised healthcare, and from a number of folk I know in the US, it is considered by them to be inferior. However as someone who has been subject to some possibly debilitating injurues and pretty bad illnesses over the years I can say without the NHS I'd be withering or dead, I have always had good care and comfort when I needed healthcare, I've always been able to turn up at my doctors and ok maybe wait a half hour, but I always get seen and there's no issue to my care.
If the healthcare bill adds to your piece of mind even only half of what the NHS has added to mine then I'm happy for you folks over the pond. I couldn't imagine of going into a hospital and either being refused care or being given a crippling bill afterwards, and yes I pay for it in my tax, but ya know.... it's so so worth it.

Thanked: 227This is one tha I have to laugh hysterically at......
I have never understood why some in the US think that socialised healthcare will bankrupt them or the country, especially when a number of countries have successfully implemented it, UK and France being only two that come to mind. The worst that the US citizens may see is a small increase in tax if the government sees a shortfall yet you seem to balk at this idea.
Here in the UK our tax is in the 20 something % for the average worker and thats pulled right off my wage, then 17.5% on value added goods, that's anything that isn't a necessity to life essentially, tax on fuel is disgusting, we routinely pay double or triple US prices for petrol depending on $/barell, then theres our home fuel bills which are insane lol.
The average Uk wage is roughly equivalent to the US and I can tell you now I am far from being bankrupt, in fact I do not too badly, and well my job aint exactly top of the pile.

Whether or not the passage of this behemoth of a bill is a good thing is beside the point. More to the point is the foul stench and putrid taste that the back room dealings, the down right lies, dishonesty and the foul politics to get the bill passed will leave in the mouth and noses of the majority of Americans. I do not believe it will soon be forgotten and I believe their will be many career politicians looking for a new line of work come November. I will not be surprised if something major happens before the election. Im not sure what it might be but something big might be just around the corner,
I'll wait and see.

US spending is out of control.
This expenditure is one more straw for the camel's back.
I have nothing against it, but it should be brought in, without pork-barreling, and appropriate cuts need to be made elsewhere to ensure a balanced budget.

I hate to **** on your parade JMS but unfortunately this is how politics is done, regardless of your country, amd I guess you already really know that, and from what I can see the only difference is that it's polititians doing the back room screwing as opposed to big corporations. Whether that's good or bad is indifferent, they're just playing the game.
The only difference between our countries and some others is the screw over is at the end of a payoff and not the barell of a gun.

Huh?...I'm still online waiting for it to be posted for 72 hours before the vote. Surely Obama wouldn't lie to us, right? right? Bueller? Bueller?
