Our basic cable package does not include CNN or Fox. We do get ABC, CBS NBC and PBS. I'm talking the very BASIC package.

Fox and Fox News Channel are separate; Fox should come with all basic packages or be available over the air like ABC, CBS and NBC.

Those aren't even cable stations. If all you get are your local networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) you could save a lot of money with a roof antenna and a Digital converter box (assuming you have an older TV since it isn't a priority for you).

Every basic cable package I've ever seen has CNN, ESPN, USA, TNT, and others. If you are going to pay for TV you should at least get something that isn't floating on the airwaves for free.

If you have COmcast cable you also have MSNBc and CNBC as Comcast has a controlling interest in NBC networks. They being the nearest cable provider to my house (rural area so I get satellite TV) offer 9 news channels in their most basic package only 2 of which (FOX News, and FOX Business) are FOX.

One thing that hasn't been debate yet is why FOX News was created. It is the Newest of the cable news networks and was created by a company that has had a knack for seeing the gaps it could fill in the marketplace and jumping into them with great results for its bottom line.

We get other channels, but I was talking about channels that covered the news. We get about 18 channels. It's Time Warner Cable.

WOW, Only 18 channels. That sucks, I feel for you dude. I'd look into satellite if I were you. I can get in more than 18 channels with a directional roof antenna from my house.
