I like the original best. I think it has what I think is needed. It is simple, It is eye catching, it has the theme of the straight razor and that you are a custom shop.

I do like the violin logo, especially since I have seen photos of your scales w/ razor and also because I try to play the fiddle. But it only conveys the violin. What about your creativity and other themes. You might make scales for bikers, other musical instruments, skiing/snowboarding, special interests, or anything else that you might like to venture into. You could even get into occupational just like many shaving mugs.

I would like to see what scales you can come up with for woodworkers, cabinet makers and carpenters. Perhaps a plane or chisel profile.

The original is definitely the better of the two.

I bet if you made a harley davidson style motorcycle razor that would sell pretty well.

Ofcourse you have to go with the violine (Strat, Harley e.t.c.) scales, or maybe incorporate the word "Theme" (or Razors) in the scales, since that will be the main point of interest of your business, untill you get grinding wheels and start grinding them "monkey tails"...

I must say that the original logo unequivacally says "Razor". Not just the Depew silouette but also the font. It makes a bold, sharp statement.

The second logo is more soft and wishy washy, like a Mach3 vs. a Straight.

Take a closer look and you will see what I mean about the font.

As far as the violin is concerned, it is just the first theme. Who knows what scales I'll be making (if any ) down the road. So adding an ephemeral product to the logo is not a good idea. It may have no meaning down the road.

The Depew shape is a classic and won't go out of style no matter what the razor related direction is taken.

Thank you for your feedback. It helped me clarify and solidify my choice.

BTW, I am looking at making motorcycle scales but it would have to be a chopper. The thin long shape of the scales would distort a normal bike too much. The chopper can be made longer by lengthening the front forks, resulting in less distortion for the rest of the bike body.

I too have a feeling that the bike scales would make a splash. Even if not a great seller by themselves they would attract a lot of attention which would most likely translate into more sales for other themes.

Right now these scales are out of the blue and no one knows what to make of them. Not really a surprise.

It would only take one high profile opinion as to their value and the rest would jump on the bandwagon. Sort of like Lynn's video jacking up the price of DD Wonderedge and the rest of the DD line.

Maybe I should make a set for Lynn to use in his next video .
