I think most of you don't even know HOW good it is on here.

I'm a rollerblader, I mentioned it before and being that I like to be kept up to date on what happends in that industry. I do so by checking 2 forums, a Dutcht one for the local scene and a french/european one for the world scene.
On both forums people yell ( I bet you didn't know that was possible in wrtten text), cuss and swear at each other on a regular basis. A lot of socalled "newbie" posts are simply sworn and cussed at untill the newbie feels like just that, a newbie. Someone who doesn't fit in.
On this forum people are polite and seem to be genuinly concerned for the way people feel.

I was beginning to think that the Internet was filled with a bunch of impolite mean people who can't (and won't try to) spell properly.

The help, advice and sheer niceness of this place give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I actually look forward to duscussing my findings with you all and it's nice to know that I won't be heaped on with negative critisism when I do.
    Thanks for being just that....human.

The mature, helpful people in the Straight Razor forums have been a pleasure for me the last few years also. Keep up the good work!

Modern society is heavily focused on individualism. Everybody covers their own behind and doesn't worry about anything or anyone else. This is further compounded by the anonymity of the Internet. It gives some people the excuse to be rude simply because they do not have to face the consequences.
We are a throwback to the good ol' times. We wouldn't feel out of place several decades ago, in a small town, where you would come across a person and greet them politely, every time. Where your neighbors find out that you're painting your house or building a shed and show up en masse to help out, while the wives make lunch for everyone. Where you don't have to worry about child molesters or armed gangbangers.
Such a community would also be filled with lots of different personalities, sharing the same value system. The town doctor would be drinking and throwing darts with the milkman at the local pub.
I am glad I came across such a place on the Internet.

Edit: Robert, if your trip to Montreal will take you through Toronto, I'd definately be up for a pint.

    Talking I love this forum!

I really enjoy everyone that I have met on this forum. I totally agree with the positive attributes of this site that others have mentioned. i am also a member of a canon photography forum and they have about 20000 mebers. There is around 2000 members/guests online at any given time. Even thought I am sitting behind a computer, I can tell that the tight knit group that we have here is not there. Sure, there are a few that comment all the time and you see there posts everywhere but there are too many topics and specialties in photography for everyone to get to know eachother.

I am just really glad that this forum is as friendly and tight knit as it is.

    Thanks All!!!

I follow way too many forums, not all shave related. However, in the straight world, one word comes to mind. Gentlemen. This forum is made up of gentlemen, save for a few. No matter where you are, a few rogues will appear, but I have been helped here by gentlemen. Great advice, trust and a willingness to help is the magic of this forum. I now have friends world wide. And while I will never actually meet 98% of you...I know that I can ask for help and receive it.

To those who have been helpful to me, thank you. To any that I may have assisted, thank you for the opportunity.

I must say that I had been away from this forum for well over a year. I was here at first because I needed information concerning the straight razor and my work... I was surprised to enjoy it so much, despite the fact that some of the guys expressed ideas that were totally opposite to what I thought. When I left the forum, I thought I would never comeback because of my work and the fact that it was time consuming for me... When I registered again, it was only to give some information to the guys who had helped me so generously about my research. But I am hooked again... There is something magical about Lynn's baby... Thanks to all of you guys... Claude
