Well put Gregg. Thanks for saying that. In my opinion, I believe that argument should lead to an understanding of both arguies'. If the discourse won't lead to a agreement of sorts, even if the agreement is to dissagree, then it's bickering. And name calling/ mudslinging is a tale tell sign of bickering. I personally don't bicker with anyone I'm not already sleeping with. Let's not resort to childish tactics that everyone on this fine forum is well above.

I firmly believe that money, religion and politics should be subjects only discussed with close friends, and even that's a stretch...
Unfortunately, these subjects seem to bring out the inner-child in people, the, "LOL UR WRONG N SUCK" type attitude that adults should know to keep at bay. Nonetheless, these issues spark innermost emotions that wouldn't be seen otherwise. The worst part about these debates is that no one can convince the other side of an opposing opinion. If that's the case, why even argue?
In my view, these things can rarely be argued, even by intelligent people, in a mature, objective and logical way without some emotion stepping in and practically destroying everything. I know that the majority of SRPers fit this criterion, but nonetheless, I've seen many political arguments on this board downgrade to condescension and name-calling rather than truly trying to appreciate one another's viewpoint.
Objectivity is the name of the game. It's too bad that most of us lose, even when we're trying our best.
I'd like to say that I like to face reality, which thusly influences my politics. The problem with reality is that every one of us faces a different form of it.Last edited by Allen; 04-10-2010 at 04:04 AM.
