I am sorry to hear that about the infection, but don't let it deter you. Don't ever start again! My dad has been struggling with stopping smoking for years now and recently fought lung cancer.
It's worth the hardship for now.
Good luck,
My strength goes with you.

Thanked: 8Good for you for trying to quit smoking. It is hard. My father had to stop because of two heart attacks that they said were directly related to smoking. Your lungs will definitely thank you later. Not only will it decrease your chance for lung cancer, but also oral, throat and bladder cancer. I am a Cancer Nurse Specialist and a chemo nurse. Trust me. You don't ever want to be there. Keep fighting the good fight. Don't give in for even a minute. YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING!

I smoked for years, since 7th grade and it was terrible when I quit last winter. All I can say is just muscle through it, be strong and consider yourself strong and don't EVER buy a pack of smokes EVER. I had some help living in NY because the smokes here cost 10$ a pack and I'm not spending that much money (so I guess their plan is working...)!
Your health is number 1 and within a year you'll feel like you never smoked and it'll be amazing how much more you can do since you've quit (walking further distances, etc). Be strong!!!! Just one cigarette is not just one cigarette, it can ruin everything, don't forget it.

Thanked: 11Good luck!!!!
I have heard that to help quit smoking, it is very helpful to pick up a new non-harmful addiction/habbit/hobby/ect that can replace smoking. If you like making stuff get models or anything like that? Maybe buy 50 antique razors and restore them? Something like that?
Good luck mate!!!!

April 6th was a year for me. I used hypnosis. I congratulate you and know you will do well. I will be the first to tell you that having extra money is a lie. I spend all my cigarette money on razors and stuff now. I still get short winded when I run, but a lot has to do with my fat ass being so out of shape. At least when I smoked, I could blame it on them.

Thanked: 1936I've been on Chantix & starting my fourth week of not smoking. Still have that "incredible urge" from time to time & have been curbing it with prayer. Even if God's not directly answering my prayer, I'm getting my mind off firing one up. My second week while my lungs were clearing out (caughing up that gunk), I got a infection at least I thought...may have been allergies and all the pollen in the air right now. Last couple days I have been feeling great & wish I had quit sooner.
