    I guess someone has to step up and represent the misfits~~~ U.S.C.G. 1983-2008.
    I only retired after I accepted a position doing the same job as a civilian. Same shop, same parking space, new clothes. Loved the life but it's better for my family to stay put for a while. I still get to travel some and the accommodations are much better now.

    U. S. Navy - 1965 to 1968. Boot Camp at Great Lakes, ILL. Served aboard the USS Sandoval APA 194 as pencil pusher for Operations, Navigation and Intelligence Division. Two Med Crusies, two trips to Gitmo Cuba and up and down the East Coast. My Dad was on the USS Collilngsworth APA 146 in 1944. My ship was featured in the movie, "Away all Boats" staring Jeff Chandler and Anzio with Robert Mitchum. Loved the travel. Visited France, Spain, Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, Greece and Turkey.
    Good Times for a young man.

    Two years in the Australian Army reserve as a grunt in 10/27 btn Adelaide, 10 1/2 years in the South Australian Mounted Cadre (Trooper in the Police Greys)

    Army Corps of Engineers 1967-1970: training to 1 year instructor US Army Engineer School to 1 year construction inspector 1st Signal Brigade, Vietnam. Mustered out as a 1LT.

    USN and USNR 84-90 started out as a CTO, but not being one to follow in line in my youth, had a few run ins with my department heirarchy. ended my active duty time on the USS Sacramento. While i was doing my weekend warrior stint, i served aboard an FF I cant seem to remember the name of that ship, the USS Shenandoah, and the USS Teddy Rosevelt. thats my time in a nutshell.
