Thread: Volkswagen Punch Buggy

Volkswagen has a new ad campaign where people punch each other when seeing any type of Volkswagen.

I always played Punch Buggy, where you could only hit someone if you saw a VW Beetle. No other models allowed!

Anybody else bugged by this campaign's attempt to change the rules? Discuss.

Yea, it's just the Beetles. And if I was going to play, it would only apply to the old ones. I don't think I've played since the new ones came out, and, IMO, they are just not the same.

Just beetles... obviously, VW doesn't live in the real world where punch bug means IT HAS TO BE A BUG! I drive a Golf TDI and owned a Kharmann Ghia in high school.

Yes, Bugs only. WTF is wrong with VW? They don't know their own brand-based excuses for mild violence? Sheesh!

It was called "slug bug" here and pertained to the beetle only.

I own a beetle and one of my great pleasures in life is driving by the local high school...and watching all the boys hawl off and wail on their buddies as hard as possible.

Yep, Beetles only, and not the new ones.

The new one is, IMO, just a golf with a funny body shell. Its front wheel drive with a water cooled engine. Whats up with that? It should be air cooled and at the back..!

A mate of mine at school shoehorned and old 2.4 litre Porsche flat six (from a 1970's 911) into his Beetle, stuck dragster alloys on it and some new suspension and brakes. And it was purple. How cool is that..!
