We are completely incompatible in this regard. I wake up at about 5 AM every morning and then lay there and try to get back to sleep until 6:30 AM when I get up. That means I get, at best, 5 hours of sleep every night. Usually it's less than 4. After doing this for a decade, I figure I am simply brain damaged.
I understand what you mean by not being able to sleep without the wife in bed. I tried to convince my wife that I need her in bed so I can sleep. But my wife doesn't believe me because she sees me sleeping in bed without her after three days without sleep.
