I grew up on a dairy farm. In order to get all the work done and still make it to school on time, I had to get up at 4:30 AM from age 12 until I went to college. Decades later I still wake up early. The problem is that I cannot get to sleep unless my wife is in the bed and she just won't got to bed until 1:30 to 2:00 AM. I've tried with no luck to get her to shift her bedtime and she just can't/won't do it.
We are completely incompatible in this regard. I wake up at about 5 AM every morning and then lay there and try to get back to sleep until 6:30 AM when I get up. That means I get, at best, 5 hours of sleep every night. Usually it's less than 4. After doing this for a decade, I figure I am simply brain damaged.
