Looking at the picture here he seems to have a couple of sharpeners:
warburtonlabs: LET'S GET SHARP!
Metal looks German but I'm not sure about the plastic one. Actually I thought he would have used a blade or other traditional woodworking tool.I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

I do not think this is a joke and I am sure this guy would take your money if you 'gave' it to him.
I think he thinks it is a joke by mocking how stupid people are.

He's a political cartoonist. You are paying to be part of the experience, to be part of a statement on the kind of world where people buy sweaters for their dogs, or pay guys to rearrange their furniture and tell them it's going to improve their golf game.
It's a joke, but not a joke.
Subtlety is obviously not a strong point at SRP...

Jim; How in the heck am I supposed to know if my pencil is truly, properly sharp unless I first experience jotting with one professionally pointed?

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics!
