Thanked: 240I have used one version of manual nose hair contraption. Hard to discribe, it was kinda like a hole punch you shoved it up there and when it closed it was supposed to cut the hair off. Instead it just got a real good grip on it and yanked it out. No thank you if I wanted to hurt myself I'd just shove bamboo shoots under my fingernails. As far as scissors I recomend getting a decent quaility pair as you want them to cut clean. I got a pair from brookstone, probably over paid a bit but they've lasted almost 5 years with no trouble in sight so maybe the $13 was well spent.

I use my straights. Just another HHT. Works good for ears too! Just don't be tempted to try a BBS and it works great.
Maybe that was one of the ideas behind the barbers notch?

Thanked: 235Luckily I don't have to worry about ear hair. My dad doesn't have that problem so I think I only have to worry about growing a nose mustache.

Thanked: 39I have one of the electric jobs and it does pull some, so mostly I use a small pair of sharp scissors that I use just for that purpose. I then shave the stubs with a razor, Round or Spanish point both work, just takes a steady hand. No need for ears yet.
If you do nick it will bleed like crazy and when you hit it with the styptic… well, it will wake you up.

There are a number of folks who contend plucking one's nose hairs is potentially dangerous. Not sure if this is accurate, but it's certainly a lot less painful to snip the buggers with a scissors or a dedicated nose hair trimmer.

Thanked: 235With this hobby we have I often feel sorry for the Thai people where I live who can not grow facial hair, other than two or three hairs growing out of a mole. But while reading this thread I realised they also don't grow nose hair.
Lucky buggers.

Thanked: 220Use a small pair of scissors, the kind that are found in shaving kits with fingernail clippers, files, little mirror, etc. They have a rounded end on them so they won't give you accidental cuts. These seem to work better for me, at least you can control what gets cut, unlike the electric trimmer.
