Good points Bruno and Gugi. I really hated to posit my ideas since now I feel I have to defend a position I don't necessarily agree with. Having said that, Bruno, it still doesn't work equating humans to the 1500+ homosexual animals since the rest of the kingdom is immune to such behavior. So... at least 1) cannot be defended from that position.

Number 2) is far more problematic as gugi points out that maybe all these young kids were in hiding until it became "cool" to be gay. He may be right but I still claim the numbers support what I posited (again I'm just arguing from the other side being the devil's advocate) since anecdotally I don't ever remember seeing so many "gender challenged" kids in my younger (50+ years) days. All the guys in my neighborhood wanted to and did chase girls with a passion. It's hard to believe these guys, some of which I still know today and show no hint of being gender challenged, were and still are in hiding.

Which leaves me to the real point that I don't think anyone really knows what is going on with this subject, shrinks included. From a lay man's point of view I think that the real issue with homosexuality is brought on by the militant subset that displays and pushes their behavior down everyone's throat. This causes a lot of people to dislike these people more for their outward behavior than what they do behind closed doors.

Again like Gugi said, I can be wrong.

What numbers are you referring too?

It's pretty obvious that any gay person would hide the fact they are gay. Look what happened to Alan Turing. He was criminally prosecuted for being gay. Even after all the work he did to help win WWII.

How exactly do they push it down anyones throat? By not hiding it? Why should they hide it? Do heterosexual people hide their sexuality?

It's not a matter of hiding it, it's a matter of promoting it. Have you seen the Gay Parades through out the country? The Gay Olympics? When was the last time you heard of Straight Parades and Straight Olympics. Watch a movie and see how the gays are front and center and make the point they are gay. Do the straights get a chance to say "hey, we're straight"? To say this is not happening is denyinng reality.

I think we can respectably agree to disagree. I don't think we are going to change each other's mind. All we are doing is giving examples and counter examples. As a statistician, let me provide you with a timely quote:

"People use statistics like a drunk uses a lamp post at night, more for support than enlightenment."

If you wear straight pride t-shirts you are forced to cover up the message or take the shirt off. Chicago High School Uses 'Straight Pride' Shirts for Rights Education - FoxNews.com

My point exactly. What is so hard about this? I was once told when I was young that people look into a mirror and see what they want to see. Wise statement.

What point? They were allowed to wear them.

All I'm hearing NYCshaver is how certain sectors of our society are victims and need preferential treatment. This is a major flaw in our culture today. The victims make the rules and everything is reduced to the lowest common denominator. There is a book titled "The Victimization of America". It hits a home run.

The school decided to allow them to wear them.

"A Chicago high school has decided to allow a small group of students to wear "Straight Pride" T-shirts, despite resistance from other students"

And that's not all it said on the shirt.

Three students came to school wearing "Straight Pride" T-shirts bearing the Bible quotation, "If a man lay with a male as those who lay with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination and shall surely be put to DEATH," which appears in Leviticus 20:13.

And they decided to wear the shirts during the week that the school was bringing attention to the bullying of gays, lesbians and transgenders

I was posting a response to this, but any response just takes this thread further off onto a tangent.

What's to say? It wasn't an example of straights being denied the right to express themselves.
