Let me preface this by saying I'm rather out of touch with the world of sneakers. I just put on the first new pair I bought since 2002 or maybe it was 2003 (WOW they are so much comfortable than the old, broken down, worn out pair I'd had).

But what is the deal with these shoe laces? They look like sausage links; they are narrow/wide/narrow/wide. Is this a common thing or did I just get weird ones?
