    Default Gibson SG 61 Reissue

    Any Guitar players out there....?

I've been eyeing the 61 SG Reissue for a while now at Sweetwater. If you haven't checked out that site, it's awesome. They have great deals on guitars. Does anyone have any info on the 61 Reissue? Anyone have or play an SG....? I don't want a les paul, to heavy....The 61 looks sweet, SG's are my favorite guitar. I love Classic Rock, it's definitely good for that genre, and more... I also need a cheap amp for the house, not a pignose, and not Marshall stacks either...

Sweetwater has some decent looking small amps for about 200.00 or so..

I also have to convince SWMBO. There's no way I can say it's a free sample...or I'm sharpening it for someone....

I have always either played Telecasters or SGs, the reissue looks pretty sweet though it does have 57 Classic Humbuckers which sound great IMO. The only thing I have hated is the intonation problems I have had with my SG's even after getting them properly set up , I dont know it could be cause i always used SGs that were about 700 bucks in price and not the super expensive ones. My dream guitar would be a firebird though, bow those r some sweet guitars. You should get the SG

SG's are notorious for Intonation probs...Even the high dollar ones, Your lucky if you get a gig out of it...I was looking at those inline stomp tuners, might be a good thing with the SG...

I have a solution for you. Mail your good buddy Gerrit some blades and hones, then tell her that you are trading the shaving gear for a guitar. After a while I may be willing to send a couple back to you then you can start over on the whole gig of "just sharpening". You have my address!

I have been trying to get SWMBO on track to pick up an SG as well. Not sure I am going to go with the RI but it is a nice looking guitar just a little out of my price range especially since I have just started playing again after a 6 year hiatus and selling all but 2 of my guitars ( unfortunately both I kept were acoustics).

It is a little high, price wise... I like the smaller pickguard a lot, and the 57 Humbuckers. It'd be nice if they put the small pick guard on the Standard SG....

I've seen Derek Trucks play a re-issue many times; the last time I saw him he was playing a vintage 61 Les Paul SG. I'd hate to see what the insurance rates are to take that one on the road. Not sure which one this is, but he can make it sing...check out the slide work that starts at about 1:54.

I love SG's and have had many. They do have a few issues, mine were all neck heavy and didn't hang well with a strap (not a problem if you don't play out).

Here's a cool inexpensive small amp, I've had them in my studio and they sound great
