Thread: Rain gear?

Howdy all!

It's come to that time of year again where the snow slowly turns to rain and we just have to deal with it.

Getting pretty annoyed of always being wet so wanted to know if any of you have a good rain gear that you use regularly.

I just bought a rainjacket last night so well see how that goes, as for boots I was look at a pair of hunters. Anyone have any good or bad thoughts on them?

Anyways just thought I'd see what everyone else recommends.

I'm not sure if this will help, but my rain gear usually consists of a wool had and a number of swear words....usually as I walk really fast to get out of the rain.

My rain gear is usually my flat-top Stetson.

Haha yeah that sounds about the same as I've been doing.

Well if you don't mind looking like an outback Australian you could try these:

They'll keep almost anything off you.

Can get one for your dog too!

Here in Bangkok my rain gear is what ever I was wearing before it was raining. If you wear any wet weather gear here you would be more wet from sweat than from the rain.

Some of the old Chinese women here like to put a plastic shopping bag on their head in the middle of a tropica down pour. In the wet season I quite often see what looks like crazy old women walking around with a used plastic bag on their heads. Doesn't really protect them from the rain, but many people here believe that if the top of their head gets wet they will get sick. I often wonder how they cope with the shower.

Basil-Anything made w/ Gore-Tex is a good bet for the rain parka. It keeps you dry, but breathes. As for boots, look here @ LL Bean

I go along with the hitchhikers guide to the universe. "Go nowhere without a good quality towel".

It works surprising well, and handles a number of needs when you're out being one with the elements.

Its gotta be Gore-Tex from top to bottom. I wished they would have had that stuff when I was in the military, it would have saved a lot of tears.

What kind of raincoat did you buy? I purchased a Grundens coat a couple of years ago and am very happy with it. It's certainly not something you'd wear out for the evening to keep dry, but if it's for work or tailgating which is what I bought it for, I highly recommend it.
