Thanked: 79The guy at the local telegraph station just told me there's these new " sound telegraphy" devices coming out which allow one to speak over long distances...
Seriously though I use my smart phone far more than my home computer. T Mobile US also has an unlimited wireless web plan which is nice ( really hoping the ATT buyout doesn't go through...t Mobile is a way better deal) and offers a lot of flexibility not available with regular computer/ hardline phone/ other wireless providers( AT&T I'm looking at you and Verizon)

Thanked: 79I agree. This is why I am unhappy about the proposed buy of T-Mobile. AT&T is *ok* but they charge and fee people nearly to death and in my opinion, the only reason they aren't out of business due to a massive walk out is their formerly exclusivity with the iPhone.
Think about it. My android phone is rooted, I can put up a wifi hotspot (if you buy the newest TMobile phones you can also pay for this) to use my laptop, etc....
I pay for *unlimited* wireless web, and so far, there is no cap on how much I am allowed to use this (unlike AT&T).
AT&T, however, charges people for "unlimited" mobile web, but heaven forbid they share their "unlimited" connection with their own laptops. It goes on from there.
To me, this is like selling someone a bag of charcoal, only to charge them again when you find they have more than one BBQ grill.

Thanked: 79I don't have any issue with them charging for services they provide...but now they want to charge people not only for the service, but how they use it. Which bugs me to no end. What's next, are magazine vendors going to start charging us extra if we share it with friends?

I use my smart phone to edit documents on the go. It's cheaper than a lap top and still does what I need it to.
I'm on a Pay-As-You-Go plan now. 20ยข/min.

Google translator doesn't do Morse code and it's been too many years since I learnt it to remember it.
GPS is only as good as the charge in the battery! I prefer a map and compass...But then I guess I'm a little old fashioned like that.
