    At home Windows 7

At work (at the moment) Windows XP

Tried Linux for a bit and liked it very much apart from the fact that it was just too much of a hassle to get my games running. So I went back to windows.

Its quite interesting, when Microsoft bought Skype the BBC were repeatedly quoting that 90% of the worlds computers are using Windows. It struck me that Mac and Linux would have more than a 10% share of the market and I'll admit that I wasn't even considering treating smart phones and tablets as computers which basically they are.

While there maybe a greater number of forum user type people that would use a non windows computer, I'm surprised that Windows is only just over half at the moment.

I'm surprised that we have as many Linux guys around, considering our mature (ahem), traditional base. I used to prefer old Red Hat, then Fedora, but was annoyed when Fedora turned into RHEL Beta. I think Flash was broken through 3 releases when I last looked a couple of years ago. I used to run Linux at work all the time, but have moved to a Windows only shop last year. I miss it - maybe I'll fire up a Gentoo box some time for fun. Ubuntu is my favorite desktop distro, BTW.

I am not so surprised: after all when something is good and you like "the good", you end up using what's good. :-)
Unix was my first "serious love" - as well as the glorious Commodore Amiga (I was a commercial ADSP at those glorious times) - and it still is.
I worked (designed/programmed software) in many Unix flavors and it is the only one I want to work with.
The very first Linux distro I installed on my PC was a Slackware (it was 1993) but I soon switched to RedHat, then Fedora, the one I am using in this very moment to write this message.
I also have Ubuntu (which is a super-easy distro) just for the fun of it and running in one of my laptop.

I have a laptop dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu, an old smart phone running puppy Linux, and my current phone running Android. Hell, I've still got a desktop going strong dual booting puppy Linux and Windows ME(I know, horrible OS).

Well I guess I've kinda run them all. I really liked playing with Linux on an IBM VM/VSE Z machine for a while but they took the toys away when I left them. I think one of the best uses for Linux is as a Forensic platform, Linux easily mounts drives without altering data so you can take a quick look. Mostly I use Win/7 at home these days on laptops.
