I suppose with the advent of the smart phones gaining dominance, the tablet gaining market share and may out distance the laptop, the young folks coming up will be much more comfortable with touch screens. I love my droid .Wave of the future stuff. The mouse and external keyboard may be going the way of the floppy disc.

XP Pro on my dinosaur desktop (ran Win2K when I built it back in '92). Dual boot OSX and Linux on my old Power Book G4. Droid on my HTC EVO 4G.

Trust me, I love my tablet and my HTC Evo 4g! Don't get me wrong! I just can't stand typing more than about 200 characters although an actually keyboard. Not the tiny flat keyboards, real keyboards with some bulk!

Keyboard and mouse will probably be around for awhile. Eventually all we'll have to do is think it and it will be on the screen .....

Thanked: 227I came across a tablet/laptop with 2 screens. One where the keyboard should be. When turned into a laptop a keyboard came up on that screen. Clearly designed as a gimmick as essentially it was useless unless you watch your fingers, because with a virtual keyboard you clearly lack home key markings making touch typing impossible

I can type faster than I can speak. Keyboard and mouse won't be gone just yet for any sort of serious writing/number-crunching work. Also, they're a lot quieter than voice commands (which have their uses).
