Default Help me pick my shoes

Hello gentlemen, I have a choice of two nice pairs of casual shoes, but I need some guidance in deciding. Therefore, I am asking you fine gentlemen to help me. (*) Here are the links:

    http://www.sportchek.ca/product_desc...id=prod3380038 <-- Vans

    http://www.sportchek.ca/product_desc...cCategory=true <-- Converse

(*) Disclaimer: I will try both models on before buying them so I can't guarantee that I'll abide by the general concensus.

Vans look more casual, Converse are the sporty ones. What do you plan to wear them with and on what occasions?
Vans are more all round: both for sporty occasions and for going out if not more formal foot wear is required.

    Don't buy cons.
I bought a pair once and it barely lasted one summer. The inside heel wore off resulting in a piece of plastic piercing my heel... in both shoes! Had to throw them out.

I swore I'd never buy converse again.

Thank you for the input gentlemen. I'm a very casual dresser (within reason). I haven't done any skateboarding since I was a teenager and took a fairly nasty spill, so these will be used for regular wear like to the grocery store, to the local pub, etc.
RW I had the same happen with a pair of airwalks I got in early 2005. They lasted until like a week ago. Still, I've been very satisfied with that purchase.
Looks-wise I like the Vans ones better and they are signature-Ilija but the Converse ones would match more clothes and the dirt/stains would be less visible.

Most vans I like better but I'm not a fan of the dirty brown ones. So I'd pick the converses out of these two.

But if you're going for the skateboard style thing why not a pair of Osiris? Etnies or Saviers?

Etnies are too stubby for me. I found a few Fallen and DC styles that I liked but the Vans are convincingly better-looking and the Converse ones look as good as anything else I've come across even at twice the price.

Ilija, the Vans are much better than those Converse you have shown. If you are looking for skate shoes go with the Vans. If you want Converse go get some like these!

Too late. I actually went over there and tried'em on. The Vans ones had some ugly stitching that didn't show well on the web pics and were less comfortable. The Converse shoes were just right in every respect, so I got'em. Fairly happy with my purchase.

    Edit:
    1) The white stitching was more prominent and distracting.
    2) Thank you all for your input!
