What I meant to say was that the weight of one's vote should be inversely proportional to the prevalence of one's misused apostrophes, as opposed to the current system where the weight of one's vote is directly proportional to the size of one's bank balance.

I work with someone who used to work in college admissions, and they once had an applicant named ' Jones. Yes, his mother named him apostrophe, and no, you were not allowed to spell it out.

Thanked: 983I probably would have spelt it W.A.N.K.E.R anyway, even though it wasn't his fault,with a name like that it would be hard not to turn out to be one. Some parents should get a firm kick in the pants for the names they give their kids. I went to school with a couple of brothers with the surname 'Nuss'. First names were Peter and Andrew.
