Earthquake On The East Coast
Just wanted to post up a thread making sure all our brothers and members on the East Coast are in good shape following the earthquake centralized in the Virginia area. I already checked with my family over there and they said they haven't heard of any damages in the area, but I wanted to check and make sure all our guys out there are safe and sound.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Thanks, Myself, family and friends are safe and healthy. Weird, I felt what was like a freight train was going through the front door. I got in a doorway and just rode it out. I personally thought it was cool.

My friends and family are OK.
My advice to them is to have
the chimney inspected well before the
snow flies. Masonry cracks and chimney
fires are dangerous so a good inspection
will be in order.

My wife was in bed sleeping. Woke her up, shook for over a minute, she said. I barely felt it at work 15 miles away. We live 90-100 miles from the epicenter. My buddy who lives in Fredericksburg was on the table doing in to an MRI machine when it started. He said it was rather freaky. But other than stuff falling off the walls all was well.
I'm hoping that the quake caused something in my HVAC to go so I can replace it with insurance.

I was still in bed, thinking about getting up and getting ready for work. I heard this weird deep rumbling sound I'd never heard before then the house started to shake... I got up!
They closed the university where I work nights and we spent all night doing building inspections - at doubletime pay - so my first quake was a positive experience...

Thanked: 2591I was shaving at that moment, I thought the neighbors were doing something and the apartment was shaking as a result.
I then realized it was a quake, it felt weird too.Stefan

Well, we are looking to move to the NC/VA area soon. So I sent the Mrs. Up there to look at houses, when she landed near fredericksburg she felt a tremor, now to boot there is supposed to be a hurricane coming through NC this weekend... Maybe something is saying we shouldn't move up there

Thanked: 2591IMHO VA is worth considering.
To my recollection this will be the second or third hurricane in 8 years trough the area, and they are usually just a bunch of rain, nothing like what you see in Florida. Earth quakes are rare in VA too, in fact that is the first one I have ever heard of , if there were others they were probably too weak to notice. I did not even think yesterday shakes were a quake at first, that is how often they happen here.Stefan

Thanks Derek,
We are fine here 150 miles South of Mineral but, definately felt it. My daughter at Mary Washington/Fredericksburg got a big shake that she descibed as "scary" but, no building damage or injuries. I was in LA when a 6.5 hit years ago and no one thought much of it. I wonder what Californians make of our reaction to all this?
