Absolute INSANITY!!! Seriously, anyone caught doing it should have their license suspended or revoked. I can't tell you how many times I have nearly been run over by some idiot texting. And while I think it's generally more a younger demographic than your average SRP member crazy enough to do it, I see more and more people old enough to know better doing it.
As a teacher of seniors in a major suburban high school, two of the non-fiction articles I have my English classes read are the following: "12 Ways to Get Fired for Facebook," and one on the deadly combination of Texting and Driving. I have zero tolerance for this! There are many roads to sharp.

While we are on this topic: I want to slap the people who let their kids play on the back seat without seatbelts on.
Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I am guilty of texting while driving in the past. Now I wait until I hit a red light to even look at my phone. I guess at some point you just have to realize making it home alive is more important than typing "I'll call you when I get home."

This may not apply to you, but what you said reminded me of some people I have known who feel so compelled to do something whenever their electronic device makes a beep or a noise. It's like Pavlov's dog. Or a small child tugging at their pants - they can only ignore it so long until they start sweating and getting nervous, and no matter what they are doing or where they are, they just absolutely cannot help themselves and must check their message or answer the beep. They could be officiating a wedding or performing a delicate task during a brain surgery operation, it makes no difference, the beeping from the electronic master cannot be denied. I get that way whenever I see another razor for sale in the classifieds - it's a good thing that can't happen when I'm driving!

While driving? I rarely text period. I keep hitting the wrong key and sending an incomplete message.

Thanked: 235If that is how you feel then I recommend you don't drive in Thailand.
In Australia is is accepted that talking on a mobile while driving is a sure way to kill someone, or yourself. But here in Thailand many Thais, including people who should know better, like the police, think that Thais are some how better than other ethnicities because Thais can drive and talk at that same time. The death toll on the road says otherwise.
As for texting and driving, that doesn't happen so much. This could be because of a lower literacy level. Could also be because trying to type Thai with a Qwerty keyboard is hard enough. Typing Thai with a numerical keyboard is near impossible. Not many people could text in Thai and be able to walk at the same time, let alone text in Thai and drive.
