I haven't been on a cruise in a few years, but I don't recall that there was any sort of security or inspection or anything the last time I was. You left your bags to be brought aboard by the porter, and took your carry-on stuff, but nobody went rifling through it.
According to Celebrity's website, though (under 'Before You Cruise' 'Packing'):
What not to Pack
For the safety of our guests, the following items are not allowed onboard:
* Irons
* Coffee makers
* Candles
* Illegal drugs
* Flammable liquids and explosives, such as fireworks.

Thanked: 0I've spent eight weeks with Celebrity since 2002. Their security is tight. The boarding cards are compared with your picture every time you board the ship. Anything you carry on board goes through the xray machine. Alcohol that you purchase in the ships store (750 ml bottles) is held until you leave. I think you can bring wine on board but expect a corkage fee. I always carry a medium size Buck knife. It is one of the three blade ones with maybe a 2 to 2.25 inch main blade. Never had a problem. My last trip with them was South America last March. Made CNN when a bus went off the side of a mountain in Arica, Chile. Enjoy and relax.

I was on Princess last year and I will concur on the last post. I did not bring any knives, but security was same as stated above. We had a very nice room on the back of the ship, thats why we experienced more motion. I would not have wanted to use a straight! Maybe if you were midship it wouldn't be so bad?

That settles it. I'll never go on a cruise. Too much confinement. However, Cuba has some real nice all inclusive packages for under a G and lovely beaches/resorts.

Yea my sentiments exactly don't use a straight in heavy seas, stabilizers or not.
No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

My travel agent said it was ok to put them in the check in baggage, so I did. The cruise went smooth along with the shave.
