Thanked: 1587Congratulations to your daughter! MIT is a fine school. She obviously knows how to work hard, has brains and talent. From what I can tell she must have inherited those things from her mother....
Seriously though, that is a wonderful achievement and a great opportunity for her. And it must be a blessed relief to a parent to know that you've done all you can to encourage such achievement. I wish your family success in the scholarship quest, and your daughter every success in her chosen field.

Thanks everyone. We are pretty excited and very proud of her.
Of course there is the mixed feelings of seeing something good happen for your kid vs having them that far away.
She has a couple friends who were accepted into Harvard which is literally across the street so she will have friends in the area she already knows real well. That is a relief to me to know she won't be there all by herself.

I grew up on the other side of the state but MIT was always nice and hosted a few of Special Olympics' state games. Gorgeous campus and the students I met while out there coaching were always nice.
Now that she has the acceptance letter I hope she can get the scholarships. Congrats to her for getting in and congrats to you, Ray, for raising such a smart kid.

Congratulations!!
I see two benefits right off the bat:
1. Your daughter is going to a great school!
2. All of those hours you will now have to spend in the shop, making beautiful work for the rest of us.!
Oh,,,,, I do have a Series 70 Government, that could use a dressing up!!!

Ray,
Congratulations to your daughter and YOU!!
I have a friend (Dave) whose son graduated from MIT (now an Engineer for Boeing in Seattle). Dave wears the cap and sweatshirt and all. When people ask him...he says "no, my kid". He figures people assume two things:
1. He raised a really smart kid, and
2. He worked his tail off to put the kid through school.
Both true.
Good luck with the scholarships!!!

Fantastic, Ray. Just wonderful. Big grats to you both. She didn't get there without alot of great help from Mom & Dad. You've every right to be just busting w/ pride.
