saturday im going to take my drivers test here in pa. does anyone have any tips you guys would like to share.

i was told for the parellel parking that it was better to just get it close and be done than to try to get it perfect if i cant get it in ithing 2 moves. i was told they dont take as many points from you as they do if you take 4 or more moves to get it in does anyone know if thats tru?

Any tips you have would be apperciated guys i can drive just fine i think on my permit but i heard the examiners like to nit pick.

I will probably be accused of being an anarchist, but I would say, dont allow the government to restrict your travel. A license is not needed to drive, it is only needed to break the law. I have been driving ten years without a license, since I found that there is a difference between driving and traveling, one is a commercial term in which the government has a right to restrict, the other is the basis of the us form of government, the right to travel freely between states. I used to be of the opinion that states could do things that the federal government cant do, since the fourteenth ammendment that distinction is lost. But I would suppose your parents wont let you drive without a license, in that case either give up your rights to protection under the fourth and fifth ammendment by signing your license, or you can keep those rights and not drive until you get out of your parents house. However you could also go ahead and get your license, wait till you get out of your parents house, then let your contract with the state expire to regain your rights, however they will never be on as strong a footing as if you never sign.

I took my driver's test in PA 15 years ago....as I recall its simple. For the Parallel parking, just get with in 18 inches of the curb and dont hit a cone. Oh and make sure you use your mirrors. they dont like when you dont use your mirrors.

So true, which is the problem I have with the military. Why should those protecting our rights, give up their rights to do so. If you can get by without driving while in the military I would still go the route of no license, if it is needed for the job you choose, then that is where pragmatism comes in. It is like my life, I believe I have the right to work, however most jobs I do are only available to union members, therefore I joined an union.

Good luck in the military, and I hope we communicate for the next 60+ years on this site.

I always played it safe and drove like i was riding a motorcycle. never trust mirrors alone. technically they have to pass you as long as you use your mirrors but go with whats comfortable!

Ok, here is my advice. Relax, its nothing you cant handle. Use your mirrors, including setting them up to you when entering the car. Put on your seatbelt, instructors are fanatics for laws. Keep both hands on the wheel. When you get to the parking part follow the advice above, get it close, dont hit any other cars and you will pass. I can vouch that there are loads of idiots on the road, if they can get a license there is no doubt in my mind that a straight razor guy like yourself cant pull it off. If you can practice all you can before you go in, answer all questions yes sir no sir( a skill you will need soon ) When you do your written test always choose the more safe option when you dont know the correct answer, even if the rules are stopping 25 feet from a stop sign, if you say 30 or 40 they should let you slide. If the following distrance is 2 seconds and you respond 4 seconds I dont see how they can hold it against you, like they would if you said 1 second.

    Relax, you will do fine.
