Run all day, run all night... with 10# of weight on each arm, 25# on the legs and 50# on your back. up a small hill, like pike's peak. if that does not kill you then add in some push-ups, a couple thousand a day should do it. but the precursor is enough brain damage to make it seem like a good idea...
just guessing.
i know a few marines who are planning on attempting one. so my real guess is: USMC basic training.

I knew a guy who competed in obstacle courses like this. Survival runs, they were called. Or something to that effect.
His training contained a lot of running to build leg muscles and good cardio.
Sit ups, push ups and pull ups.
And for the rest: he spent every weekend doing various 'off road' obstacle courses where you can train different types of obstacles.
A lot of it comes down to just being in good shape and training all muscle groups in your body.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
