I fell about that far when i was drunk. I climbed back up, took a while to get sober enough to realise i needed to go to hospital!

I hope you never have the experience of falling and hearing the piton pull loose.

Good you're alright. It could've been bad, so you must have some angel with a debt of gratitude hovering above.

Lx_Emergency: you still do rollerblading? Which kind? Aggressive? I wanted to go into that for some time now.

Yup, that's my type of rollerblading. It's a lot of fun. And to be honest I haven't really had a lot of injuries so far. Few stretched ligaments and muscles, couple of stitches and a couple of KO's but nothing broken in the...let me think now...7 years that I've been doing it. If you still want to try I know a couple of good internet shops that'll get you good blades for a decent price. You can always add me on msn (if you use that..I do every now and then (alexanderdenoot at hotmail dot com) and I'll give you some pointers to check out. Or you can check the belgian inline forum at www.braindamage.be they might have some secondhand blades) How old are you anyway?

yeah I've scoured braindamage before, as well as other forums.

I'm 29 I just wanted some kind of active sport to do and blading seemed like that kind of thing. In my 'youth' I did shateboarding for about 5 years and then some blading but I hd no idea about decent blades back then, so I gave that up after a year or so.

I was competitive in martial arts and very heavily trained for around 12 years. So, I know how to fall very well and it is rare I hurt myself while falling at least. However I did break my arm once when I was younger from a fall that was less than 20 feet so consider yourself lucky. Granted I fell on solid steel, steel also has more flex than concrete or rock, So even though you may have gotten lucky with the soft floor, you are still lucky. Glad to hear you are ok!

kinda funny how some people fall from 20ft and break nothing and others stumble over their dog and break their leg in like a gajillion places

the place tyo buy blades at the moment would be www.grindhouse.eu they have some special offers for good skates against low prices. But before you buy ask them about sizes since skates can be a different size in real from the number that is on the skates.

actually, it would be best if you can try them on!

For example, I have shoes from 8.5 (sandals) to 11.5 (running shoes - from when I used to run with shoes). HOWEVER, my Rollerblade Canvas (an old aggro style) are 12.5 and they fit perfectly...

as for injuries - I never broke anything doing pretty crazy stuff. Once though in the half pipe something went wrong and from several feet in the air I landed in the flat portion of the ramp on my back! Let me just say that it took me a while to get up and then I just coasted home... I scared all the mothers with children around, at least 3-4 of them just took their kids skates and all and went home or something This is one of the two skating falls I remember. The other one was when a friend on a road bike was pulling me on a straight asphalt road and a bird flew in his spokes... this was a very bloody affair but nothing broken, again

    Cheers
    Ivo
